Guide

Water purifiers: an alternative or a complement to jugs?

For some businesses, purifying drinking water directly from the mains reduces the need to carry and store jugs. Alongside jugs and bottled water, Girne Su offers mains-connected purification solutions. Because every building's mains water, plumbing and usage are different, we do not sell purifiers at a fixed price; we carry out a site survey first and then prepare a tailored quote.

System types

  • Point-of-use (POU) dispenser: A dispenser connected to the mains with built-in filtration stages. It needs no jugs and can supply cold, hot and room-temperature water. Suits offices, waiting rooms and staff rooms.
  • Reverse osmosis (RO) system: Usually installed under the counter, with multi-stage filters and a membrane. Used in kitchens, cafés and restaurants for drinking and preparation water. As reverse osmosis can lower the mineral content of water, it is planned with a remineralisation cartridge where needed.

From survey to servicing

  1. Free site survey: Our technical team visits, checking mains pressure, connection points and daily consumption.
  2. Quote: The recommended system, installation and maintenance plan are presented in writing.
  3. Installation: Hygienic installation and a first-use test.
  4. Scheduled servicing: Filters are changed at regular intervals based on usage and the manufacturer's recommendation, and service dates are recorded.

What to consider before choosing

  • A purifier with overdue filter changes can do more harm than good. We do not recommend a system without a maintenance plan.
  • For high-consumption, mobile settings such as events, jugs or bottled water may be more flexible.
  • If you want water with a known taste and mineral profile, choose our spring water, whose analysis we publish on the Water Quality page.

Many of our customers combine both: a purifier in the kitchen and jugs or bottled water in meeting and guest areas. You can order jugs and bottles online and check the areas we serve on our delivery areas page.

Frequently asked

How often are purifier filters changed?

Intervals depend on the filter type, mains water quality and daily consumption. Pre-filters are typically changed every 6 months and the membrane less often. The exact schedule is set in the maintenance agreement after the survey.

Why are purifiers listed without a price?

The right system depends on plumbing, mains pressure and consumption, so pricing is set after a site survey. You can request a free survey through the quote form.

Does reverse osmosis remove all minerals?

Reverse osmosis significantly reduces dissolved minerals. For drinking-water systems, we therefore recommend a remineralisation cartridge where appropriate.

Do you install purifiers in homes?

Our focus is offices and businesses, but we also survey homes where suitable. Send your request through the quote form.
